Scary Short story!

My little Yulli is clever and charming, sweet and endearing... but super shy and of very few words. We've been working very hard together on encouraging her speech and language. She's come so far in the past few months that I'm speechless (pun intended).

She has a beautiful and vivid imagination and I especially love watching her dramatic play. It's crazy the little things that she comes up with on her own and the connections that she has made without me even realizing it. But what has amazed me lately is how she is now able to use language and words to express herself. Her new favourite thing is telling me stories.

Tonight, with some guiding and clarifying she told me her first, full, complete and semi-logical fictional, short story! And of course I just have to share it with all of you guys!

Boo-Boo Monster by Yulli-Boo

Nice monster!
Scary! (scared)

Spider on his chest.
Ahhhhhhh! (high pitched school girl scream)

Rabbit on his knees.

Monkey on his head.
Monster scary! (scared)

Owl on his feet.

Tiger on his belly.

Hippo on his teeth!

Snake on his eye!

Run away!
Boo Boo on his head!

Santa (gave him a) Band-Aid!

Dream! (all just a bad dream)
The end!

Ohmygawsh! I love it soooooo much!

Edit: Husband read this and was not as enamoured as I was. So let me please point out that it is actually quite extraordinary for a 2-3 year old to tell a story with a beginning, middle and end. This story although simple has adjectives (frickin adjectives), sound effects, repetition, protagonist, antagonists, plot, problem, resolution and even a twist ending! Just missing a setting! Sheesh what more does the man want? Okay end rant!
